Conference - SLATE Group

2012 will mark the tenth anniversary of the creation of SLATE and the annual SLATE Conference. Over the past nine years over 2500 people representing almost 120 unique institutions from the Midwest, across the country, and around the world have attended this conference. This conference invites all faculty, system administrators, CIO's, Web developers, instructional designers, librarians, students, and user support staff from institutions that are deploying and/or currently using any Web-based tools, applications or programs, in their teaching and learning. Recognizing that deployment issues, support concerns, teaching strategies, learning styles, etc. are common among the varied CMS/LMS clients, everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate.

U.Va. and 11 others become latest to plan MOOCs | Inside Higher Ed

A dozen more universities have signed partnerships with Coursera, a company that provides hosting services for massively open online courses (MOOCs), the company announced today (7/17/12). Coursera’s new partners include the University of Virginia, whose highly publicized administrative ballyhoo last month made it the epicenter of the debate over how traditional universities should adapt to the rise of online education in general and MOOCs in particular.
